MJSA awards 2006 scholarships
Six aspiring jewelers will have some help with their tuition this year, thanks to scholarships from the Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America’s Education Foundation.
The foundation has awarded $6,500 for 2006.
Two students received $2,000 scholarships: Carol Salisbury of Portland, Ore., who is pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree in jewelry at Oregon College of Art & Craft; and Lizabeth A. Kelley of Cape Coral, Fla., who is studying art jewelry at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco.
One student received a $1,000 scholarship: Lucia A. Perluck of Barrington, R.I., who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in visual arts at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Three students received $500 scholarships: Jennaca L. Davies of North Kingstown, R.I., who is pursuing a masters of fine arts degree in jewelry and metalsmithing at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I.; Kate Erickson of Fort Collins, Colo., who is majoring in art with a concentration on metalsmithing at Colorado State University; and Melissa Klemm of Greenville, Mich., who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in metals and jewelry design at the Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
