Local seniors awarded college scholarships

Three local seniors received college scholarships from the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Tri-State McDonald’s Owner/Operators area.

Through the Ronald McDonald House Charities/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources college scholarship program, Sindy Castro received a $20,000 scholarship. Richard Ossa, who recently graduated from Clifton High School, and Nicarauris Batista, an International High School graduate, were awarded $5,000 scholarships.

The students are among the more than 45 New York metropolitan area winners who received more than $300,000 in scholarship money. More than $3 million has been awarded to students in the tri-state area since the programs began in 1987.
