Engineering scholarship offered

The Engineers Foundation of Ohio is offering more than $25,000 in academic scholarships to qualifying engineering students for the 2007-08 school year.

Each year, EFO offers the scholarships to engineering students in Ohio. Ten students received scholarships last year.

To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents of Ohio and graduating high school seniors admitted to an engineering program approved by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology at an Ohio engineering college or the University of Notre Dame.

Candidates also must meet minimum academic standards of an SAT score of 600 in math and 500 in reading or composition or an ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English and a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Additional criteria apply to some scholarships.

Scholarship applications can be obtained at www.ohioengineer.com, in high school guidance offices or by calling (614) 846-1177 or (614) 846-1144. Application deadline is Dec. 15.

EFO is a nonprofit charitable organization established in 1964 by members of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers.
