Lake Superior College receives $400,000 Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant today

Lake Superior College has received a $400,000 Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Grant to create a “Lean Health” training for SMDC Health System. Over the course of the three-year grant, more than 200 SMDC employees will learn the Lean Health principles and share them across the health system. Lean Health is a system of continuous improvement designed to improve efficiency, increase employee satisfaction, and enhance the quality of work within an organization.

A grant-signing ceremony will celebrate this accomplishment today at 10 a.m. at the Duluth Clinic First Street Building Lobby, 420 E. First Street, in downtown Duluth.

Lake Superior College President Kathleen Nelson and SMDC Chief Administrative Officer John Smylie will discuss the benefits for their organizations and the community. Representatives from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Grant Program plan to be part of the event as well.
