Byrd High graduate to get Caddo Sheriff’s Office scholarship
Byrd High School Graduate Torie Prothro will have $500 to go towards her college education.
Prothro is the recipient of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship Program for the 2007-08 school year. The graduate will use the funds to study pre-medicine at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
The sheriffs’ scholarships are made possible by the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program (LSHMP). Louisiana sheriffs provide scholarships to graduating high school students from each parish where the sheriff is an affiliate of the program.
Scholarships will be awarded in 60 parishes throughout the state.
Caddo Sherrif Steve Prator said that each of the 31 applicants for the scholarship was deserving of the award.
“Each of these students is a positive reflection on Caddo Parish, and I’m proud to invest in their future with this scholarship,” he said.
