£10,000 prize pot for the 2008 Roux Scholarship

The organisers of the Roux Scholarship have revealed a £10,000 prize pot for the competition’s 25th anniversary.

Now open for entries, the winner of the 2008 Roux Scholarship will receive £5,000 cash with £1,000 awarded to the remaining five finalists.

Also up for grabs is a coveted three-month stage at a three Michelin-starred establishment courtesy of the Savoy Education Trust as well as a week in New York courtesy of Compass Group’s Restaurant Associates.

The prize for this year’s winner was £3,000, with no cash on offer for the remaining finalists.

Judges for this year’s competition include first Roux Scholar Andrew Fairlie as well as Gary Rhodes, Brain Turner and David Nicholls.

Tracey MacLeod, restaurant critic for the Independent magazine, also joins the panel headed by Michel and Albert Roux.
