Daniels program provides scholarship
The University of Colorado-Denver said Wednesday that the Daniels Opportunity Scholarship Program has awarded it two grants totaling $150,000, to provide scholarships to nontraditional students at the school’s campus downtown and the School of Nursing on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
Funding for the downtown campus is aimed at military veterans who are just starting their college careers, UCD said.
Beginning in fall 2008, the $100,000 grant will support 20 two-year scholarships, with each student receiving $1,250 each semester for their first four semesters.
The School of Nursing will receive $50,000 to provide five students with $5,000 scholarships in each of the next two years. The scholarships are aimed at “adult learners,” defined as students 25 and older.
