A grant initiative will double the dollars donated to the Southwestern Illinois College Foundation until 2012.

The Title III grant initiative is part of a Strengthening Institutions Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Funds contribued to the college foundation now through 2012 will be matched dollar for dollar by the grant.

“This is the best time for donors to contribute,” Foundation Director Norm Madsen said. “Everyone wants to get the most from their money and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that.”

The Foundation is the friend and fund-raising 501(c)(3) arm of the college. It promotes excellence by securing financial support for special educational and cultural activities that are not part of the ongoing operational expenses of the college.
