Oklahoma City Community College receives $1.72 million grant

Oklahoma City Community College has received a $1.72 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to fund a new college health careers program in clinical research.

The grant will give OCCC the opportunity to grant degrees and certificates in clinical research. College officials hope the program will serve as a national model.

Sonya Williams, the chairwoman of OCCC’s division of science and mathematics, says the program will create a pipeline of thousands of students able to fill much-needed jobs in the areas of clinical research and clinical trials.

The Central Oklahoma Workforce Investment Board plans to offer a tuition match for every OCCC student who enrolls in the program.
