Weaver to receive tennis scholarship

Princeton High School senior Ricardo Weaver has been selected as one of 37 winners nationwide of a $6,000 College Educational Scholarship by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Tennis & Education Foundation (T&EF).

The Foundation has granted 54 high school students a variety of college scholarships this spring, totaling $287,000.

The 37 honorees were selected from applicants throughout the country on the basis of their commitment to academic success, their local community and the game of tennis.

A member of Princeton’s tennis team, Weaver has a strong devotion to the sport and says he would like to help grow the game in the future.

Weaver also participates in community service through the Key Club, where he is vice president and mentor.

He would like to pursue a degree in business in college.

An objective of the USTA T&EF is to encourage America’s youth to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in school and becoming responsible citizens.

“By supporting young people we are investing in America’s future,” said Karen Martin Eliezer, Executive Director of the USTA Tennis and Education Foundation.

“With the help of these scholarships, it is our hope that the students will continue to pursue their goals and act as stewards of their communities as they move on to higher education and throughout their lives.”
