PJK Scholarship Golf Tournament
Calling all South Shore golfers! The sixth annual Pamela Jean Kowalewski (PJK) Scholarship Golf Tournament is here! The tournament will take place on Monday, July 21 at the Harmon Golf Club in Rockland, MA. Proceeds from the tournament go to the PJK scholarship fund, benefiting college-bound students of Bridgewater-Raynham High School. The tournament will be followed by a banquet, raffle and presentation to tournament winners.
In 1993, Pam unexpectedly passed away from AL Amyloidosis. In 1994, Pam’s husband, Bob, and her friends founded the PJK Scholarship and held a charity ball to raise the initial funds for the scholarship. The family chose the Bridgewater-Raynham High School because in 1981, the family moved to Bridgewater and raised their family. The three Kowalewski children (Matt, Sarah, and Jill) attended the high school. Later, the focus of the fund raising efforts changed and the first ever PJK Scholarship Golf Tournament was held in 2003. Each year the scholarship grows a little more and the benefit to one B-R student increases. Ultimately, the scholarship serves two purposes; to help those close to Pam cope with the loss of someone so special and to give back to the community Pam loved so much.
“This golf tournament has been a source of fulfillment for our family,” Pam’s son Matt Kowalewski said. “We enjoy raising money for the Bridgewater-Raynham community and at the same time honoring the memory of my mother.”
The tournament is open to the public and has an on-going registration. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams in each category (men’s, women’s and mixed groups). Long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests will be held for men and women. The cost for a 4-person team is $500.
